*** IN THE CITY WATER FLOWS UPWARD
............................................................................
FOUNTAINS , seeing one was one of my earliest dream. Having been born and raised in a farmland seven kilometers from the town proper, our only source of news was from the Jueteng Kubrador who walks through the barrios daily collecting bets and entrust the bets to their Cabo Collector in the town headquarter. Every late afternoon my grandfather invites him in for some merienda and listen to his stories about what's new in town. He amused us with his stories especially his occasional trip to the city of Manila about a hundred kilometers away.
He was a great storyteller describing the city as place of tall buildings, streets full of people where you can buy anything you want and parks where water flows upward and dances with the music. The place called Luneta was a hundred times bigger than our farm where you can ride sidecars and travel by Calesa. It was a dream world and I always ask my Lolo to one day take me there so I can watch the dancing fountains. It was different then, we have never seen anything like it and for a young mind innocent of the world it was a dream fulfilled.

F5 = FIRST LOVE
*** EVERYBODY HAS A FIRST LOVE ...
..................................................................
FIRST LOVE is also the first one to go ... later on to be replaced by other loves until you find the right one. It may have been bitter, it may have been sweet but it will always be at the back of your mind. The very first time that your heart beat so fast, so hard, knees shaking, and you can't even feel the ground you're walking on. Days pass unnoticed and you start to think in terms of forever.

F3 == FREE WILL
F3 === FREE WILL
" Life is like a river with water flowing downward. There are 3 things you could do : one is to go with the flow and see where the tides will lead you : or you could swim against the river flow, but chances are you will not get very far and sooner or later you will be swept by it ; or you could build a raft and learn to navigate so you could stop from time to time to be able to smell the flowers . "
---- Sidharta
" The road to happiness is filled with a lot of parking spaces "
The movie " Adjustment Bureau " is all about predestination. We follow a grand design wherein our Guardian Angels keep us from straying from our established path. But we are not bounded by it - we could still decide on which road to take. We are given a free will -- all we have to do is to listen to our heart's desire and sincerely work to make our dream come true.
The Gods may be at first against us but if we will just keep going, the Gods will understand and give us their blessings.
" It doesn't matter how many times you fail.
It doesn't matter how many times you get it almost right,
All it matters in business is that you get it right once,
Then everyone can tell you how lucky you are "
-- Mark Cuban
F2 == FEELINGS
F2 == FEELINGS of LOVE
The most exciting part of our life --- falling in love. A lot of us do not know where the phrase came from - its calling falling in love because once we do, we do not have control of our self until we hit the hard surface down. I have been a bookseller for the last 26 years and I can very well say that a great majority of my customers almost always are interested on the part of the story that tells who gets the girl in the end. Expressing one's love is always the hardest and the most exciting part in a man-woman relationship.
This scene means a lot to me. We were dead broke when I watched this movie and my friends were then seeking employment in Saudi Arabia. Almost all of them landed a contract but I decided not to leave my family 'cause with aside from missing my lovely wife I couldn't figure out how she would be able to take care of 5 kids. I enjoyed being a father, so much that I knew I won't be able to contain the sadness of being away from them. For many I was wrong but I'm glad I decided to stick with my family for I never missed the chance of providing them what they need - the love and guidance of a father and a husband to my wife.
" Love is a many splendor thing,
Its the April rose that only grows in early spring "
Love is nature's way of giving, a reason to be living
The golden crown that makes a man a king ...
" Love is the whole existence of a woman,
But just an episode of a man "
" For love is blind and lovers cannot see,
The pretty follies that they themselves commit "
" It is better to have loved and lost,
Than not to have loved at all "
" Pains of love are sweeter far,
Than any other pleasures are "
" For you love me and I love you,
What knife could then cut our hearts in two "
These are just but some of the love quotes I recalled and there are hundreds more. Still men have found more ways of expressing their love - through songs, poems, love letters, etc. etc.
The movie " The Family Man " is a take-off from the 1946 Frank Capra's movie " Its A Wonderful Life ". It tells the story of a man who was set to become the richest man in the city deciding to close a deal merging his company with a rival competition. In doing so he stood up his girlfriend for the merger - until his Guardian Angel showed him what he's missing had he taken the " road less traveled.

F1 == FAILURE -- OUR BEST TEACHER
FAILURE
------------
FAILURE can show you defects in your plan, reveal defects in the execution or timing of a plan, identify weakness in a team, or highlight otherwise undetected variables at play. It is a tough teacher but it can teach you your strengths and weaknesses in a way that no other teacher can.
Sometimes the best laid plans do not work. Sometimes it is just bad luck. But that does not mean that we should stop trying. We could only be regarded as a real failure once we give up and allowed ourselves to be kept down.

** IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE !
...................................................
I have more than a thousand reasons to say why life is so wonderful. Success and happiness sometimes go together but not everyone who succeed ends up happy and fulfilled. But is it possible for someone who couldn't keep up with a comfortable living be happy ? Could it be possible for a person to find happiness even in distressful situations ? Happiness lies within and though most of the time we are judged by other people by the material possessions we have and our social status we can still squeeze some moments of satisfaction even in the hardest situation. Its hard to explain but hope and faith provides better cushion than all the things money could buy.

FAILURE is a wonderful teacher -- it teaches you that when things are falling apart some people won't let you go down the drain. You go through life without taking hint of how your actions affect other people, unsure whether you touched them the right way. People who loves you, people who cared about you , are there waiting to be of help and you realize that you were not really that bad after all. And the greatest surprise of all is that most of the faces who held up your hand were not really the ones you helped get out of the rough.
GOOD decision comes from experience and good experiences almost always comes from bad decisions. I took the fall not because the guy who out-hustled me was smarter, I just made a wrong judgement of her sincerity. I intended to do something good but she thought of differently -- she got a way with it but I guess until now she's losing sleep trying to cover her tracks. I have learned to live with the loss, still unable to live comfortably but armed with the thought that after a few more years things will be a lot, lot better than today. I may not be able to see the better days but the past years have been worthwhile as I have learned to live one day at a time, picking up simple joy from simple things and able to pass them on.
TAKE HEED of the advice coming from people who have failed especially those who failed miserably. They have been through it and chances are they just don't want you to commit the same mistakes they made. A lot of people have made a career out of their failures, they just shifted to a different career path. A good example is Freddie Roach , failing to win a championship and suffering a debilitating Parkinson's Disease after quitting boxing 5 fights too late, he found a new career training fighters. While he was taking all those beatings inside the ring he was analyzing why despite knowing what to do he was unable to put up a good defense and an effective offense. In his mind he was creating scenarios on how slip the jab, counter- punch, do combinations, and develop some traps to deliver his effective hooks and uppercuts. He couldn't do this things well so he has to find some fighters he can train to put his ideas into action. And that's how he blended with Manny Pcquiao, he possessed almost every tools he wanted to have and he was right there to hone those skills. And the rest is history...
